The Murge offers, in the heart of Lucania, an extraordinary glimpse of the landscape beauties and the biological richness of this region.
The site straddles the area of the gully plateaus of Matera and the sub Appennino Lucano. Itincludes the leaps of Sant’Oronzo (or San Lorenzo), spectacular conglomeratic pinnacles over a hundred meters high, formed as a result of the erosion of the agri river which, over time, has givenrise to a spectacular gorge that recalls the scenery of the grand canyon American.
